Laura + Austin (12.12.20)
As we all know by now, Georgia weather is all over the place. This wedding day was no different. The temperature was comfortable despite it being December and the skies were cloudy. Laura and Austin’s wedding took place at The Chimneys at Big Canoe. This venue has a lodge style look to it and is located next to a lake. If you’ve ever been to Big Canoe then you know that the community is immersed in nature with no lack of flora and fauna. I guess you could say we were "in the woods" with Mr. and Mrs. Woods!
We had a team of three working on site for this wedding, so we all arrived in the morning and got straight to work setting up. Hannah headed out to the houses where the bridal party was getting ready to deliver bouquets and boutonnieres. Alexis and I set up the guests tables with beautiful centerpieces including tree cookies, lanterns, votives and pinecones.
After returning, Hannah started on the arbor design that was set up at the stone patio overlooking the lake. Alexis and I decorated the entrance with greenery on the drapery and the welcome sign. We also added greenery around accent points in the venue such as mirrors and mantles. Before long, everything was set up and ready to go.
The bride and groom got ready off site with their bridal party. Laura wore a beautiful white dress with lace detail and flowing bell sleeves. Her bridesmaids all wore different styles of dresses in shades of red. Austin and his groomsmen wore navy tuxes with floral detailed ties. The groomsmen's ties were maroon and popped nicely against their white shirts.
Shortly after the bridal party arrived, the clouds let loose. The couple decided to put the rain plan into effect and our team got to work moving things around. With the help of the wonderful groomsmen, we were able to quickly move the guests tables into another space and reassemble the arbor inside where the reception was previously set up.
The ceremony was just as beautiful inside and the couple made the most of the night. They were announced Mr. and Mrs. Woods and took final photos with family before entering into the reception. Talk of The Town Catering had a delicious buffet set up for guests to enjoy before it was time to get the party started. Rivet Events provided entertainment for the night and did a great job of keeping guests out on the dance floor.
The cake table not only had an amazing three tier cake from Sweet Caroline's Cakes, but also three flavors of mini cinnamon rolls from Cinnaholic. The cinnamon rolls were both adorable and delicious. The dessert table was definitely a hot spot at the reception, along with the bar! The bar was stocked with different types of wine and beer, and the coolest part was that some of the beer being served was brewed by Austin himself!
After the dancing slowed down a bit, it was time to send off the newlyweds. The couple chose to have cones filled with flower petals for the send off, and it turned out beautifully! Laura changed into a sparkly jumpsuit with a cozy fur coat that she looked absolutely stunning in! Mr. and Mrs. Woods walked through the petal confetti, loaded up into his truck, and headed off to start their biggest adventure together.
